IA9100 transition readiness · Five founding places

Stop guessing what IA9100 will catch.
See where your records fall short, and how to close it.

IA9100 is the next revision of AS9100. Guidance on product safety and counterfeit parts becomes a requirement, and information security, culture and ethics, and control of sub-tier suppliers are added. Most quality teams are reading summaries, comparing clauses, and still not sure what they’ve missed.

We check your own records against every IA9100 change published to date and show you where they cover it, where they only partly cover it, and where there’s a gap. Then you get the step-by-step plan to close the gaps, most pressing first. Copy your QMS’s Excel exports into our templates and answer 30 transition questions; it’s ready within five business days of complete data. No ITAR, EAR or CUI data.

In the sample plant, 13 of the 31 IA9100 changes measured showed a gap, and 14 more were only partly evidenced.

Sound familiar?

Reading IA9100 summaries won’t tell you what you’ve missed

Four places quality teams get stuck on IA9100, and what the gap analysis does about each.

“Are we ready for IA9100?”

Your GM or a customer asks, and the honest answer is “we think so.” The changes run across seven topics and dozens of clauses, and nobody has had the time to check them against your own records.

What the gap analysis does: a clear answer for each new or changed IA9100 requirement, taken from your own records, with the record IDs behind it.

“We already do that”

AS9100D already covers product safety and counterfeit parts, but much of the detail was guidance. In the IA9100 draft that guidance becomes a requirement, and some topics are new: information security, culture and ethics, control of sub-tier suppliers. It’s easy to assume you’re covered when you’re only partly covered.

What the gap analysis does: it reads every change in the seven areas against your records: evidenced, partly evidenced, a gap, or not assessable from what you sent.

Records in too many places

Change forms in one system, training in another, supplier flowdowns in the ERP, and no register at all for some of what IA9100 asks about. Checking it by hand means weeks of digging.

What the gap analysis does: it starts from your QMS’s Excel exports, copied into our templates, the same intake as the Audit Defense Pack. 30 transition questions cover what no register shows.

A list of gaps isn’t a plan

Knowing the gaps still leaves you deciding what to do first, and the work takes months: a safety question on the change form, safety training, an obsolescence watch, flowdowns to sub-tier suppliers. None of it gets done the week before the transition audit.

What the gap analysis does: a step-by-step action plan, most pressing first, each step with what to do and the records to start from. Your team works the list instead of guessing.

IA9100 is not yet final. The gap analysis is measured against the IA9100 changes the IAQG has published to date, and the final text may still change these topics. It is not certification or a registrar audit.

What it covers

Seven areas IA9100 changes

Every new or changed requirement the IAQG has published in these areas, each read against your own records.

Product safety

How hazards are found, assessed and controlled, every change checked for its effect on safety, and the people responsible trained and kept informed.

Counterfeit parts

Training, approved sources, traceability to the original manufacturer, an obsolescence watch, and how suspect parts are handled and reported.

Sub-tier suppliers

Whether your flowdowns require suppliers to control their own suppliers, and the level of control you decide for each.

Information security

Whether the electronic records your quality system depends on are protected against loss, unauthorized change and corruption, with backups that restore.

Culture and ethics

Quality culture objectives, a code of conduct, ethics training, and a confidential way to raise concerns, product safety included.

Planning and FOD

Foreign object prevention, product quality planned in phases, and the measurement and statistical control behind it.

Process verification

Whether new or changed production processes are verified before production, beyond the first article inspection.

Not yet final

Measured against the IA9100 changes the IAQG has published to date. The final text may still change these topics. A re-check against the final text is not included in the fee; it can be arranged in writing.

What you get

Where you stand, and the steps to close the gaps

Both built from your records, both reviewed by an aerospace quality professional, and a 60-minute call to go through them together. The action plan doubles as your transition plan: each gap with its priority, the evidence that closes it, and a line for the owner and target date, ready for management review.

Why start now?

Finding the gap is the quick part

IA9100 is not yet final, and nobody is required to meet it today. But closing a gap is rarely a one-week job. Depending on what your records show, you may need to:

  • Update purchase order terms and flow-down to your suppliers, and their suppliers
  • Add a product safety check to how changes are approved, and train the people who make that call
  • Train procurement, receiving and material control on counterfeit parts
  • Review who can reach your quality records, and prove a backup restores
  • Update procedures and responsibilities, then run them long enough to have evidence they work

Some of that can take months, not days. Knowing now where your records fall short means you plan that work on your schedule, not in the weeks before a transition audit.

Founding price

Five founding places

The gap analysis has its own five founding places, counted separately from the Audit Defense Pack’s, in exchange for honest feedback on the report.

That means a short interview a week after delivery and a 15-minute check-in at 30 days. A testimonial is optional, only if you are happy, in words you approve.

A longer transition? The Facility subscription can refresh the gap analysis each quarter instead of the Audit Defense Pack, so you see the gaps close. The quarterly deliverable is chosen when you sign.

Not included: certification, a registrar or transition audit, or any guarantee of an audit outcome; ITAR, EAR, CUI or other export-controlled data; more than one facility; the Audit Defense Pack’s own reports, which are a separate order.

Founding price
$3,500list $6,500

One facility. The gap analysis, the ranked action plan, the workbook and the review call. Credited in full if you continue with a Facility subscription within 30 days of delivery. The credit applies to an annual subscription paid upfront; quarterly billing is available without the credit.

Paid by invoice, after Buy now or a 15-minute call with James, by card through a secure Square link or by bank transfer. Nothing is paid on this website.

Check your fit

Is it worth it?

Do the math with your own numbers

Put in the hours your team would spend reading the IA9100 changes against your own records. The calculator shows what that time costs and how many hours the gap analysis would have to save to pay for itself.

What that work costs you

The gap analysis ($3,500 founding price) pays for itself if it saves your team

That count includes about 8 hours of your own time on the templates and transition questions.

Your own arithmetic, not a measured result: AeroAssure makes no claim about how much time it saves. The founding price is for the first five gap analysis customers; later prices are on the pricing page.

Who you’ll work with

I’ve been where you are

James T. Porter

A new revision is coming, someone has asked whether you’re ready, and the records that would answer it are spread across spreadsheets and inboxes. I’ve sat in that chair.

I spent seventeen years in aerospace supplier quality: a decade as a quality engineer at an investment castings house, then supplier quality and supplier development at OEMs including Boeing and Pratt & Whitney. Most of that time, I was the person called in when a supplier’s quality system was in trouble.

AeroAssure is how I do that work now. I review your gap analysis before you see it, and we go through it together on the call. You won’t be handed off to anyone.

Common questions

Who is it for?

AS9100D aerospace suppliers getting ready for IA9100, the revision of AS9100 the IAQG has announced.

What do I have to send?

The same minimum as the Audit Defense Pack: 23 of our Excel templates, filled in from exports you already have, and your answers to 30 IA9100 transition questions, which cover what no register can show. A question left unanswered does not stop the clock; the requirements that depend on it are reported as not assessable from the records supplied.

How long does it take?

Five business days from the day your data is complete and accepted. You get an email the day we accept it, or a list of anything missing. Then the one-hour review call.

IA9100 isn’t final. Why do this now?

Because the work takes months, and the changes the IAQG has published already show where it will land. The gap analysis is measured against those published changes, and the final text may still change these topics. A re-check against the final text is not included in the fee; it can be arranged in writing.

What does it cost after the five founding places?

$5,000 from its sixth customer, and $6,500 (list) from its sixteenth. Its founding places are counted separately from the Audit Defense Pack’s.

Can a subscription keep it current?

Yes. For a longer IA9100 transition, the Facility subscription can refresh the gap analysis each quarter instead of the Audit Defense Pack. The quarterly deliverable is chosen when you sign.

Where does my data go?

It is processed on our private, encrypted Google Cloud server and by our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), which does not train its models on our clients' data. It is deleted 30 days after the gap analysis is delivered, whether or not you subscribe, or earlier on request, confirmed in writing. More on data handling.

Is it a transition audit?

No. It is not certification or a registrar audit, and it does not guarantee an outcome. It shows where you stand before your transition audit.
